History

December 15, 1933: Station begins operation.
May 23, 1960: A tsunami caused by the Great Chilean Earthquake submerges both this station and neighbouring Wakinosawa Station, making the line temporarily impassable until the water is removed.
March 2011 Station destroyed by Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami
